Ah, the peaceful life of a pond Quiggle. Fresh air, clean water, lilies... what more could one want? The answer is a five-star restaurant, which, sadly, the pond seems to be lacking. You control a Quiggle, who honestly just wants a good meal, whether it's bits of lilies, some tasty flies, or an extremely delicious bee.
At the beginning of each level, find a path that will lead you to the flies, without any lilies being in the way. The row of lilies that are positioned in a vertical line, at the edges of the screen, can be useful if you keep hitting the space bar in the same place. If you do this, it'll make it easier to get to the flies, and faster to complete each round. If there is no path, quickly make one, by eating away at the lilies. When the level starts the flies are at the very top of the screen. Each flyby moves them closer to the bottom of the screen. As they enter the sections with the water lilies, the lilies act as barriers, causing a maze effect. The flies are forced to find the path they can follow so they bounce off of lilies and go the other direction. This causes them to reach the bottom of the screen much more quickly than if they were flying the entire way across the screen each time. If a fly reaches the very bottom of the screen and touches the Quiggle, it will cause you to lose a life.
Each line of flies begins with a red fly and ends with a purple fly. If you eat one of the red flies, another red fly will appear. This is very important. Why? Well, there are 12 flies. (1 purple, 1 red and 10 yellows) You already know that the red flies count for 5 points, the purple fly counts for 10 points and the yellow flies count for 2 points. When you eat a purple fly, another one will appear. Cool huh? So if Mr. Quiggle eats 11 purple flies, that gives you a score of 110 points. Whereas if you eat 10 yellow flies, you only get 20 points. Factor in the red fly. 10 yellow flies, with 2 red flies, gives you a score of 30. 11 purple flies and 1 red, gives you a score of 115. Notice the difference in scores! In order to separate the lines, hit a yellow fly.
Trophies As mentioned above, the bees are out to get you. If you do not capture one and it stings you, you will lose a life. Catching every bee on each level will give you a score of about 800 points. Sometimes the bees will get hip to your game and sandwich you in the corner, making it hard to get out, and causing you to get stung. This seems to happen in the higher levels. If you know that you are unable to catch a bee... DO NOT TRY. These bees are known for switching directions at the very last second. Though they travel fast, they are unable to travel in a straight line.
Level 10 If you are lucky enough to get to level 10, there is something you should know. You are rewarded 100 points at the end of this level. The downside to this is that you will not be rewarded if you have any extra lives. What should you do? Continue to play the game, like you would any other level. Eating the flies and bees one by one. When you notice that there is only one fly left, make the sacrifice. Allow Mr. Quiggle to be stung by one of the bees, without eating the last fly. If you have two lives, repeat the process until you have one fly left. By this level, you should have a score of 1500. Give or take a couple of points.
Tips to Win
A score of 1800-1900 is normally required to get a bronze trophy, however on the first of each month when the scores are reset, it is possible to submit a score of about 1400 and receive a trophy.
